![]() Planetary keywords are the nuts and bolts of astrological interpretation. Astrology is a qualitative science...an art. The outcomes are only as good as the intuitive insights and common sense of the astrologer. The ability to blend feelings, judgement, and intuition, with the energy each planet and sign exudes is a life-long undertaking. Someone lacking intuitive and empathetic ability will make a poor astrologer no matter how many years they study. Chart interpretation entails synthesizing the subjective realities of energy, insight, and intuition, with judgement. There are, of course, concrete methodologies associated with astrology (especially pertaining to chart calculation), however using cut and dried definitions learned by rote for interpretation is useless and unwise. Doing so would have you believe that when Jupiter goes across your Sun you will win the lottery, or inherit money from a long lost relative. These are potentials only, and there can be elements within your chart to nullify this potential. Further, this potential can also be mitigated by whether or not you actually buy lotto tickets or have long lost extended family members with money! Nothing is cut and dried in the art of interpretation, and the ability to use your common sense, judgement, and insight into a situation are essential. Something I have found interesting in my years of study is that keywords can be used in all their forms. For instance, the word "Material" which is a keyword for Venus. Material has many different meanings; it has meaning in the financial realm in association with resources: it is also a word to describe equipment used to construct something, including that which is used in sewing, i.e. fabric. Always remember that words have numerous meanings and are only symbols which we are currently using until such time as they are not needed because we have evolved to a point of transcending verbal communication. Below are some of the keywords associated with each planet's energies. Begin thinking of interpretation as a puzzle; use these keywords to help merge and blend your feelings, perceptions and judgement of the planets energies in association with the situation in question. As a final thought: Keep in mind, there are just some things God doesn't want us to know, or be prepared for...otherwise, why would S/He have created Uranus?
