December 2011 Highlights

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Joyous whatever you believe!

December is definitely going to be full of sparks and sparkle. All that has been hung up, buried and bereft will come back to life with full vigor. However, I still will ask that we maintain caution in all travel due to the mixture of a Mercury and Uranus direct movement between the 8th and 13th.

Mercury is about communication, vehicular travel and general mobility issues. Mercury is also our intellect, so when this planet goes backwards, or rather, appears to here upon Earth, our thought processes are slowed as is our travel and general agility and mobility. However, while we must be diligent and plan for all contingencies while travelling, these energies are very good for other things; such as research, revisiting past interests and issues; revamping theories and ideologies and visiting places and people from your past.

Additionally we add the direction of Uranus to this mix. Uranus is one of my favorite planets because it is the mark of genius and those who take “the road less travelled by” to quote the poem by Robert Frost.

Uranus is a rather dual force, in that, it can indicate complete rebellion and anarchy, but it is also what makes us follow the dictates of our hearts letting no one dismiss the call of our souls. Most of those who achieve great things deviate from the normal, well-trod avenues of life to seek their own special calling or avocation.

Uranus is the ruler of electronics and electricity, change and the unexpected, as well as Mother Nature and the hand of God. When a stationary/direct Mercury and a stationary/direct Uranus meet up the word of the day is “unpredictable”. Yes, it can certainly bring insights, extraordinary genius and serendipity instigating the most fabulous events which transform our lives. But it is also dangerous. Not danger from evil, but rather, danger from inattention, unexpected situations and lackadaisical attitudes. This includes clouded intellect, unusual events and restricted mobility.

If you must travel between the 8th and 15th keep your eyes open, do routine maintenance on all vehicles and get a good night’s sleep if you are the driver or navigator. The 8-15 is the worst time, in general, though in your personal chart you might have a trigger point that extends this time exponentially.

So, we have Uranus going direct on the 10th, Mercury going direct on the 13th. This is a nice change once these two planets regain their normal speed, especially for Gemini, Virgo and Aquarius. However, not only is Uranus going direct on the 10th, there is also a lunar eclipse on that same day. This is a really big deal my friends, and I am guessing that there will be news of some sort. Anything from an announcement of someone expecting a baby or other family addition, to news regarding your home town or country, as the moon rules all of these things. The past, nostalgia and sentimentality will be in attendance, but should not bring melancholy pangs because it is in the sign of Gemini, which is of a much lighter-hearted nature.

This lunar eclipse is considered a total eclipse and will occur at approximately 18 degrees of Gemini. According to Time & Date this eclipse will pass over Alaska, northern Canada, Australia, New Zealand, central Asia and eastern Asia. Being a total lunar eclipse, this should be a very beautiful sight and can certainly bring some wondrous feelings to light.

Lunar eclipses are personal and emotional in nature and what better time to be personal and emotional than during the holiday season? Anything “lunar” has to do with families and nurturing types. Gemini is a planet of intellect and the happy-go-lucky. Gemini brings people into our lives, teachers (grammar school), neighbors, roommates, car pool mates and the “locals”. There will be ample opportunity to go forth and be joyous with those in your immediate sphere. For some, this will herald the entrance of the love of their life, a place to call their forever home or multiple opportunities to attend to the life events pertaining to the house in your natal chart in which it falls.

Yes, again I must speak of love because I believe in it, especially at this time of year. As December commences, holiday romance is most certainly a portent. The first week of December can bring the sweet high of reciprocated adoration your way. All of those holiday parties can bring the warm fuzzies to a few lucky couples. These are inherent in the minor auspices in play. However, for those who have collaborative energies in their chart, particularly those that mix with that lovely lunar eclipse, even the direct motion of Uranus and Mercury (and Jupiter, but we haven’t talked about him yet) this can signal such a wonderful love that I dare not deign to lessen it with words. No, I’m not kidding. Or being sarcastic. Many people have paired up for life during the holidays, including me and mine.

As a final major heavenly event, generous, beneficent Lucky Jupiter, will also go forward on Christmas Day! Jupiter is a very extravagant energy force, and while he was retrograde we have seen the decline in fortunes of several countries, including Italy and Greece. Jupiter in Taurus can be accused of taking the easy way out in many cases, and perhaps living beyond ones means. However, this energy is also capable of extremely hard work, exceptional common sense and grounded thinking. This holiday season will likely bring some of the more simple pleasures of life to us. Hot cocoa, a cozy fire and Christmas carols with those we love along with a thoughtful gift or two can be enough. If you are specially blessed, please share with those who are not.

I expect we will see governments looking for leaders who have a track record of business savvy and are tough enough to implement measures to get budgets back on track. People will not like these austerity measures, which could be implemented in the first quarter of 2012.

By the end of the first quarter and into the second, there will be those who wish to usurp these measures, making empty promises that can’t be accomplished as stated. The facts are that governments can’t afford to give things away because either these programs were poorly thought out and encompass too many services, or because of mishandling of resources funding them. I am all for a minimal or core level of services, including health care, to be in place. However, they should probably be mostly preventative and exiguous in nature.

People have to be responsible for their lives if they desire any freedoms. I have no problem with the precept that everyone should be made to set aside monies for their whole family to have insurance nor that it should be mandatory. I’m sorry, but God, no matter which major religion you adhere to, tells us to work for what we have and not expect handouts except in very extenuating circumstances of catastrophic proportion. Poor decisions or poor planning on your part do not constitute you getting a significant part of another's hard earned income.

Everyone having an equal share dooms us all to mediocrity because it doesn't reward those who work harder or have a gift, hence a viable, salable commodity. Until we no longer have a world of finite resources where talent and money don’t matter, people are not going to be treated the same.

Kids and contagions are the only essential areas of focus for government expeditures, along with those who are too disabled to fend for themselves. We must make sure they have a chance at a decent life. And in the case of the children, getting them out of homes where they don’t and are in danger, if not for their lives, than of their minds, needs to be part of the foundational plan for all societies.

These are all issues on the table for the coming years my friends. As our population increases and our resources diminish we will have to choose what is important for our cultures to thrive, not just survive.

So, for those who pray and believe in a Higher Power than themselves, this season I hope we all remember the larger dilemmas upon the Earth and ask God to point the way forward for us. And perhaps whisper in the ears of the world’s leaders the right path, even if it be a “road less traveled”.

Salud, Cheers, Slainte, Fisehatak, Prost, Gan bei, Ba'sal'a'ma'ti, Eis Igian, Mabuhay, Na zdrowie, Gsundheit, Budmo, Iechyd da, Saúde, Kampai, A la sature, L'chaim, and Glad Tidings to all!

November 2011 Highlights

There are several items of note this month, as is normal for November. The winter is just beginning to set in for the western hemisphere and as such it brings the chill and darkness with it. Scorpio rules this month as does Pluto, Scorpio’s ruler. These energies are two of the most potent in the zodiac realm. They are all about intensity, including both positive and negative options. Internal fortitude, strength beyond measure and endurance without complaint are signatures of these eternal vibrations: As are depravity, manipulation and subversion to the point of malfeasance.

Neptune will go direct on the 9th, which will be good for all the Pisceans reading. Additionally, the asteroid Chiron will go direct at this same time, and incidentally, these two energies are conjunct this year. Wounded intuitives around the world rejoice as these two energies bring your life back onto the track you desire. For the less esoteric this could bring a bitter wounding to your door in the form of a lie instigated by someone you thought loved you. Turns out they were blinded by some other light. You will recover and find another more worthy of you.

The second week of November has some lovely vibes which will energize you into movement of a very inspirational sort. Don’t let this energy go to waste because your actions now can bring about some excellent results. Men will be particularly blessed at this time and they can bring about wondrous events if they will but leave their ego in the cellar.

Do what you can to move another forward if you have the power to do so. Not just anyone mind you, but if you find a talented or gifted person who could use a leg up in the world, then use your power for good. I promise you will be given a jolly pat on the back at a future time, perhaps even by the Great Spirit. No good deed is overlooked in this life; however, if you do good deeds strictly for the payback, then for you, no good deed will go unpunished (believe me in this, many a social worker has gotten the nasty end for meddling in places even angels fear to tread). Ain’t life a hoot? True motives never will steer you wrong, just never do a thing for ego aggrandizement. The Great Spirit eats our Egos for snacks then picks His or Her teeth with our Motives.

Mercury goes retrograde on the 24th in Sagittarius. If you know a Sagittarian who is special, you could hear from them now. If you are a Sagittarian, then anticipate a few problems in communications and travel.

This is a very dicey time (Nov. 24th-ish) because there is also a Solar Eclipse. This is not a total eclipse but any solar eclipse is a sign to pay attention to the power structures in your world. Again, this will occur in Sagittarius. Obviously we are supposed to be taking a cue from this benevolent and gregarious sign. This is also a sign of God, Whoever that may be to you. You should know that I am a proponent of Jesus if you read this site at all. Plus, if you have a problem with Jesus then you likely have a problem with decency, respect and fairness…so go away…at least be open to hearing His call. At any rate, the other religions have merit as well or they wouldn’t be part of the schematic of the world. We are not all given the same ideologies and this is for a reason (which is unfathomable to me). But My God says that some folks aren’t meant to hear the same call I hear. So, whatever Your Calling, you should perhaps deign to hear it towards the end of November in our Gregorian calendar.

Sagittarius also has to do with collegiate studies, people in charge, philosophy, Freedom, adventure, the joy of the hunt, the exotic and foreign travel. The north node is also in attendance at this event. The north node is pure destiny in a gold embossed box. This is the hardest thing you will ever do but could be the one thing that gets you into heaven…or gains you Nirvana… or puts you on the prettiest pony at the fair. In other words, it is freaking important! Mercury retrograde is here to make sure we get a double chance at it, it is That important. If you don’t know what this means for you personally, you have until December 15th to get it together. At this point, what you amalgamated in your mind needs to come forth in a nice little burst of Truth. Because ultimately, that is what Sagittarius and Jupiter are all about my friends.

As an aside...most of my insights are gleaned from experience. I didn't get that experience in some pristine chapel somewhere. Neither will you. How can God trust you if you have not been brave enough to tempt yourself? Gandhi anyone?

God loves us all and we are approaching the season where this means the most. So before anyone else gets the chance to say it "God Bless US every One".

October 2011 Highlights

Welcome Autumn to all of us in the northern climes, and beautiful, refreshing Spring to those “Down Under”! October, here in the north, is the signal of the season of ghosts, ghouls and witches, brought about by All Hallow’s Eve. With the cool air, so comes the time of year when the shadows meet the darkness and it is said that the veil between life and death is at its thinnest. This was the season when people in ancient times took stock of their summer harvest and could see how well they were apt to survive the coming winter. Could their pantries hold out until spring? Often times they could not and parents would look at their burgeoning family as autumn set upon them knowing that there might be an empty seat at the table before the green of spring came to bless them with Earth’s bounty. Sobering thoughts, but ones that this earth has weathered before and will likely see again.

I watched a show by Richard Attenborough tonight, which was made in 2010, I didn’t catch the title, I am sorry Mr. Attenborough. He researched and laid out how our earth is doing at its current level of humanity and what can happen as our population increases. According to his numbers, which are those of the UN, there will be 9 billion people on this earth by 2050. At 9 billion people, we will not treat everyone equally and we do not now (those in Europe and North America live magnificently compared to most of the rest of the world, so these countries must expect a huge decrease in their standard of living if the population reaches 9 billion).

Regardless of current lifestyle discrepancies, if we reach 9 billion and want everyone to live similarly, we will all live like those now living in Rwanda. If nothing else this is certainly an incentive for me not to live to 2050 since I don’t really want to go back to “hunting and gathering” when I am 90 years old. Our poor earth cannot sustain us at this population growth without some major changes in the way we live.

My point here isn’t the status of the world and the fact that we have finite resources, which is certainly true. My point is that the month of October is when the heads of families looked at their coffers and knew in their gut if they would all make it through the winter; and this was of course barring no disease. It is no wonder that the specters of ghosts and goblins came hobnobbing as October waned.

This October is not bringing a great deal of planetary problems to us. Scorpio holds court in Venus on the 9th, bringing intense moments with friends and loves. People will not be willing to do things half way while Venus is in Scorpio. If you find love now, it will be a consuming love, not a light flirtation.

Scorpio is the sign of extremes and Venus is the planet of money. As far as finances go, there is a boom and bust energy lurking. People will get very, very rich or lose their “ass-ets”.

The heaviest hitter this month will be a trine between Jupiter and Pluto, again a financial significator. I mentioned this a few months ago and told you to get things done while Jupiter was in forward motion and Pluto was retrograde because it will be harder to gain ground while Jupiter is retrograde. Well, Jupiter is retrograde and Pluto is now direct. This is very good for those who have strong Pluto signatures in their chart and have had problems with legal issues, over-zealous detractors and extravagance.

Pluto is currently in the most somber sign of Capricorn and this energy is going to bring us down to earth with a thud if we have elicited or imbued any semblance of the aforementioned characters or characteristics.

Any issue in your life that has surged ahead with a life force of its own but had no true research or investigation to substantiate it will come to an immediate halt as those involved grasp about at straws and try to find a quarter to hold on to, while the defender can now bring forth the true facts and put the wind out of the sails of those who run their lives upon hubris and extrapolation.

To simplify this, those with Sagittarius/Jupiter prominent in their chart will not likely fare well against those with Plutonian/Scorpion tendencies. Any issue that has been overdone will be brought to equilibrium. Those who have spent beyond their means or used their happy-go-lucky attitude a little too often will have to pay the piper.

Jupiter/Pluto interactions, in general, are a great time to make a lot of money, and a great time to lose a fortune.

College aged people will be in focus here and those who are attending university and have sweat and clawed their way through some difficult endeavor, especially a research project, will now come out the victor.

If you are traveling overseas or a great distance, be careful and don’t let some smooth talker get in under your radar. On the other hand, there can be some wonderful opportunities to visit someplace foreign at a bargain price. This will likely be someplace you have been before and loved. In this case, the winds of fate are calling to you to meet a long lost friend or meet up again with a lost love of your youth. Even if it isn’t exactly someone you knew, someone you meet now may be the epitome of someone you used to know…an age ago. And this person will have been someone very special to you indeed. So go forth and explore a university campus, an international festival or even better, a place far from your home. There are special lessons for you to find on these quests. Hopefully all of them full of love which you thought you had lost an age ago, or never thought to find in your lifetime.

September 2011 Highlights

The biggest news in September is that of Pluto moving direct on the 16th after having been retrograde since April 9th. Pluto still has a big impact on our planet even if its importance has been downgraded in astronomy. Pluto is a power player and causes us to go through “trials by fire” during our life. These times will be of a more internal, self-awareness/development genre when Pluto is retrograde, so while others close to you may not perceive what you are going through at the time, they will certainly be aware of the results after the planet goes direct. This will especially be true for those who have strong Plutonian influences in their chart (i.e. many planets in Scorpio or Pluto strongly configured with personal planets). For these people, you may have had a few dark nights of the soul or have been trying to keep some other Pluto-esk issue under wraps.

Pluto rules abuse and while Pluto is retrograde those being ill-used could be left without a way to protect themselves or the ability to get out of a negatively charged situation. Now that Pluto is going forward a way could open, so you can get away from that job where you aren’t appreciated, that roommate who won’t pony up their share of the expenses, or even find a way to leave someone who just doesn’t treat you as well as you deserve.

Pluto is all about power and typically when Pluto emerges from retrograde motion there will be power shifts. This power shift can continue to build while Pluto moves into forward gear and will dissipate when it goes into retrograde motion again, in April of 2012. Or perhaps the power won’t dissipate but will secretly build even more in ways that can be surprising when all is revealed upon direction. We can watch this phenomenon best in political arenas, where one candidate may begin to make headway now, then make a major faux pas as Pluto goes retrograde just a few months before the election; alternately, they could garner assistance from individuals or entities which wish to remain anonymous. Receiving assistance from someone in power or getting financial help though secret means is certainly a characteristic of Pluto, as are under the table deals. Pluto is the ruler of the underworld, so Mafioso or other gangland payoffs come to mind.

There are several other items of note this month, such as Venus moving into Libra (one of its Home signs) on the 14th and Mars moving to Leo on the 18th. Venus in Libra is good for financial prospects, legal affairs and for the beginning stages of business partnerships. Business dealings can be lucrative and enjoyable for all involved when Venus in Libra shines on them.

Mars in Leo is a wonderful auspice for the sign of Leo especially and will give them an infusion of energy, strength and inspiration. Some Leos also might find themselves getting angry or frustrated more often, but mostly, this energy will be good for you and only cause aggression where aggression is needed. For everyone else, Leo is a noble and romantic sign, so you might be surprised when someone you thought was a kitten shows the claws of a lion now. Mars is the planet of energy and sex, and in Leo it tends to bring about a more gallant side to pursuers in the conquest of love.

This is a really great month for those looking for love as all the energies are pointing to companionship and at the very least, a business partnership. However, with Venus flirting with Mars on the 11th, and causing the potential for some “love at first sight” moments on the 17th, then culminating with the big bang of Mars in a very positive transit with Uranus and then in a less comfortable but still heart-throbbing vibe with Pluto (who remember is now behaving in a much more overt manner), things look quite good for romance, and even better for lustful intentions.

Finally, on the 18th, there is another potent, though rather frustrating romantic energy between Venus and Pluto. None of the abovementioned romantic energies are overly powerful taken alone, but when added together, I’d say that the initiation of autumn could also be the beginning of a great many lovely times of snuggling and watching the leaves fall.

All of the Venus energies are also associated with finances. Given that Venus is now in one of her signs, we might see a lessening of the volatility of the markets and hopefully a few gains that will stick. The only iffy energy is that of Venus and Pluto on the 18th, though this isn’t a hugely strong or long lasting energy. This can be a make or break couple of days for some, so look at your natal chart and current transits for greater insight as to how this might affect your overall bottom line. Pluto is the harbinger of bankruptcy, so if you know someone who was on the brink, between Pluto moving direct and this transit, things might be bleak for them. All in all though, I say there will be more people getting back on their feet and finding a path they can tread upon towards success than there will be those who fall into the abyss.

August 2011 Highlights

The month starts out with Mercury going retrograde in one of the signs it rules, Virgo, then sliding back into Leo. It will be retrograde until the 26th.

Virgos will no doubt feel this retro in a more pronounced way because it will start its retrograde phase in their sign. All those with strong Mercury vibes will be revisiting places you’ve been before and running into people from your past. Retrogrades, in general, signal a time to reassess a situation or do more behind the scenes work or research on a project. Often we have to redo something when retrogrades come along. Retrograde planets are not thought to function in as direct a manner and can even be described as having a “cold”, therefore causing things to be rather askew with relation to the areas of life they impact.

When Mercury gets out of wack like this, it tends to cause an upsurge in all life’s little irritants, check-out queues get longer, road construction and fender-benders back up traffic and everything takes more time than you anticipate.

Mercury has to do with intellect and movement, including travel in any type of conveyance. This planet is also quite speedy in its orbit, therefore when it is retrograde it tends to cause time wasting delays and even detours. Mercury in Virgo is analytical and tactile, relating to the practical application of knowledge and manual dexterity. Mercury in Virgo will tend to impact those modes of travel which connect us with the ground, since it is an earth sign. Air travel, on the other hand, is said to be ruled by Uranus, which is associated with the air element. Incidentally, Uranus is also retrograde now, so don’t expect things to go smoothly if you must travel by air. Take plenty of busy work to keep you occupied if you happen to be delayed at the airport.

Neptune is also retrograde and it will slide back into Aquarius on the 6th after having been happily ensconced in its own sign since early June. Neptune isn’t nearly as happy in Aquarius as it is in Pisces, so there may be a few more noticeable issues involving Neptune ruled areas. These are not new trends, rather these will be things that were not completely dealt with while Neptune was in Aquarius from 1998 until just April of this year. Group consciousness and the evolution of the internet age are part of this energy. Neptune in Pisces is a much more spiritual energy and you can read more about it here.

Retrogrades can signal a time when there is much going on behind the scenes, as in research, investigations and the fixing of mistakes made in the past. Neptune has a predilection towards things of a deceitful nature, being the ruler of con-artists and nebulous circumstances. As it falls back into Aquarius, land of rebels, eclectics and genius, the Neptune negative connotations may emerge since these two energy signatures are not very compatible.

If the areas of your chart ruled by Neptune and Pisces took you into the nastier depths it is capable of during the last several years, then this last hurrah in Aquarius is going to be a chance to finally fix your problem.

If, on the other hand, you have been the purest of pure, eternally patient and kept your faith while you were being attacked by crazy, weird and out of bounds sorts, which unfortunately, Aquarius can bring, then they will be brought down with the force of an ocean in typhoon mode and your path will soon be clear of any and all torments.

Venus will move into Virgo on the 21st, bringing an increased level of happiness to the Virgo born. Money can be made in analytical areas, health care and in using your organizational abilities. Virgo rules health care professionals and military types as well as any area which requires attention to detail, so while some of these fields are not areas to get rich in, usually those called to these careers are truly “called” and are not influenced by the smell of money. Which is a good thing, because true healers and those in the military will never get rich, sadly enough, and they don’t care because their God loves them for what they do and that is enough for them.

At the end of the month, Jupiter too will recede into retrograde motion, though it will remain in Taurus throughout. Jupiter is a lucky, joyful and benevolent planet ruling the higher mind, philosophy, international travel and business. While Jupiter is retrograde (until Christmas) its beneficence will be much more subtle. Those things under its auspices will not go as smoothly and could take longer than you might expect, so if you are waiting for admittance into the college of your choice, you may need to wait longer than you had anticipated.

Overseas travel will take more time than you might have hoped, but you will have time to take in the local atmosphere while you are there. And if you are going to make a speech of some sort during this time, probably because you are considered a dignitary of sorts, please keep it short; just because you like to hear yourself talk doesn’t mean everyone else does. This includes the clergy (ruled by the 9th house and Jupiter); there is nothing worse than waiting for a “man” (sadly, most of them are…we need more women in the pulpit before I’ll ever take them seriously; if the majority of western clergy still oppress women, what can we expect from the world?) of the cloth to shut up and quit droning so we can go do more Godly things with our Sunday like cooking a big dinner for our family and friends, washing the dog and tending our gardens and homes (um…this isn’t work to be avoided on the Sabbath…this is toiling and therapeutic…so don’t mouth me or I’ll thump you).

July 2011 Highlights

I already discussed the solar eclipse that will initiate the month of July, so look to the June Highlights if you missed it. Nothing like starting out a month with a Bang! Directly after the eclipse, on the 4th (Independence Day in the U.S.) Venus, planet of love and money will move into Cancer. Cancer is a homebody sign, bringing enjoyable times involving family and home. This fits in well with the 4th of July festivities which traditionally involve reunions, family and the celebration of “Home” in the most intrinsic national sense. Set off some fireworks for me please as I spend another holiday with our neighbors to the north, who, incidentally, celebrate their Independence Day on July 1st; they too freed themselves from British rule, the British being some of the most benevolent of rulers to my thinking. Though I still vastly prefer being a rebellious, freedom worshiping, self-directed American and look forward to being back in Her breadbasket.

This week could also be a nice week for romance and perhaps cementing a relationship that is special. Venus will trine Neptune, also on the 4th, which is a very romantic energy. This configuration can be described as giving us all “rose colored glasses” and letting us see others in their very best light. Enjoy the fireworks and homemade ice cream with someone special if you can.

On the 6th, those rose colored glasses come off, but luckily, what you will now see is a stable, exciting mate who can keep your interest for the long term. The more mature (in other words, those with some grey in their hair, even if it is hidden by peroxide) may find a compatible person with whom they want to share their golden years. If there were barriers to your match, you could see a way over or around that obstacle now. And perhaps, even if barriers persist, you will decide there is no barrier that is insurmountable if you are together.

On the 7th, there is a rather major energy connection between Lucky Jupiter and Pluto, who is retrograde. Jupiter and Pluto together have a lot of potentials as far as what might occur. These two planets are often found together, especially by conjunction, during extreme economic circumstance. This configuration can bring the rainbow’s pot of gold as well as financial ruin and bankruptcy. This is exacerbated by Jupiter being in financially motivated Taurus and Pluto being in austere, cruel and staunch Capricorn. Their meeting on the 7th will be a trine, which will allow whatever momentum that is flowing to create a landslide.

Jupiter is enjoying forward momentum now, and Pluto is in retrograde motion, so the more difficult circumstances of Pluto in Capricorn will be weakened. There will be no avoiding these rock slides so you may as well hang on and enjoy the ride as Jupiter guides the free fall, hopefully into fortunate circumstances which you would have never found if not for the landslide.

We will see this configuration again on the 28th of October, but with Jupiter in retrograde motion, therefore weakened, and Pluto direct, meaning he can be the huge meanie he is while hanging out in Capricorn. If the earth moves under you during this transit, when you hit bottom it will likely be inhabited by a rock monster…like in Galaxy Quest…you know, when Tim Allen has to use the same transporter that Tony Shalhoub transported a pig creature in “and it exploded”. Everything worked out in the end, but everyone is surprised it did and they still face great peril. Same thing here.

Shore the areas of your life up which are ruled by Jupiter, and especially Pluto during the first transit to possibly avoid catastrophe, or better yet, reap the significant rewards offered by this transit.

Next up we have Uranus, harbinger of chaos, major changes, anarchy and genius, moving to retrograde motion until the second week of December, 2011. Uranus is currently in brave, war-making, youngster ruling and selfish Aries. During this retrograde he will not move out of this sign, meaning he is firmly ensconced here until May of 2018. Some of the more negative potentials we have seen, like lots of blood being shed by those who desire their freedom, at whatever cost, may be avoided as the rebels pull back, retrench and re-evaluate how to make their world their own. I am so proud of those who are fighting for their right to live in a free society and perhaps this retrograde will bring their oppressors to their senses and let them know that the lives of others are not theirs to dictate.

Uranus also rules the social media that has allowed these people to see that there are other, better, freer ways to live. Unfortunately we are also experiencing the “flash mobs” associated with social media who are robbing and beating tourists and inciting violence and destruction in Chicago and other places and nations. Perhaps it is time for full time cyber-police to keep peace loving people safe and crucify those who wish to infringe on another’s movement? Stalkers are stalkers and should be obliterated, even if their reason is admiration. Paparazzi and their minions included. But then those who are in the public eye because they are attention craving narcissists would be sad I suppose. Regardless, something must be done, so mayhaps the officials in charge of such things should cuss and discuss it during this retrograde and figure out how to make the herds of evil-doers cease their stalking, vandalism and robbing, at the very least.

I looked at the U.S. chart regarding the economy a year or so ago and I didn’t see a real upward trend until 2018, which would coincide with Uranus moving into fiscal (sometimes greedy) Taurus. I don’t remember if I took into account this major sea change or not.

Taurus is a materialistic sign and Uranus' shift into Taurus has the potential to initiate some breakthroughs which will shore up the economies of the world. Perhaps a genius invention of something that will bring unlimited fuel so the world can quit fighting over diminishing resources and concentrate on being decent human beings. Since it is involving Taurus, the sign of earth, gardening and farming…and cattle…perhaps we can use bovine and other waste as fuel, as I hear someone is already doing a bit of this; or maybe we can grow enough food to actually feed the whole world. Any of these accomplishments would bring us a vast amount of blessings from Above I think.

The other potential for change along this venue would be the opposite of the above associations of Uranus in Taurus, with famine becoming wide-spread and of Biblical proportion. Unusual farming methods, like cloning and artificial hormones creating increased harvests are likely, but I have to tell you, this makes me very uncomfortable. Read about China and their exploding watermelons sometime. We can probably look to China to lead the way in artificial plant supplements as they seem to have no squeamishness about messing with the things God made. I don’t know if they have any more belief in Mother Nature than they do in our God, but it might be worth doing a study to investigate if they will be the ones to ruin the whole damn world. They recently lead poisoned another bunch of their folk and have routinely sent children’s toys to us that have lead in them. Harken to their “monster dam” project. Probably not a bad idea on a smaller scale, as it is, it is making their current drought worse. I’m not one to question Mother Nature myself. I’ve never seen her not win an argument and I respect her implicitly…AND I LOVE her work! Well, except for hurricanes and tidal waves and dust storms and tornadoes and earthquakes. Flooding is our fault, or at least should be something we are astute about given historical records and geographies of areas; we can only redirect water somewhat until the natural flow wins out. In other words, if you live next to a river, stream, lake, swamp, bayou or tributary of water of any kind…it might flood someday! Plan for this shit man. 'Cause shit, invarible, happens.

Anyway, back to Uranus in Taurus and the future of farming technology. Be forewarned. Screw with Mother Nature and her plants and animals at your own risk. I don’t want to eat that genetically modified crap, though I know we already are. All things in moderation or we will regret it during the Uranus in Taurus years and forevermore.

I’m not talking about going fully organic. I am a gardener and a farmer’s daughter…and granddaughter. I know that the bugs and diseases can decimate crops and herds and organics are no match against infestation. Poison is the only thing that will kick an infestation’s ass. Bugs are the bane of the Southern farmer’s existence, as well as blight. Sometimes you have to use some bug spray or fungicide…just use it sparingly and many weeks before harvest. Then wash the produce.

Organic fertilizer is best, but as the Germans know tragically well, you better make sure your soil has worked all that poop and rotten compost into the soil and let it sit a spell and get rained on BEFORE you plant your crops or you might end up with a little seen strain of e coli. Never use manure or compost after the crops are planted or have your compost pile where the run-off from it when it rains can contaminate your produce. People get in a hurry…then people get sick and some even can die. Farming and gardening is the hobby of the patient person. Farms growing crops “en mass” are not likely that patient as they have quotas to meet and bills to pay. Not the best way to be when dealing with Mother Nature. Family gardens are best, though they can only supplement our world’s need for food. For those who like to cook, it is wonderful to be able to run outside to pluck something fresh from the garden to add to dinner.

The rest of the month is relatively quiet as we sink into the “dog days of summer”. The only noteworthy shift is that of Venus into Leo on the 28th, bringing help from those in positions to assist in a big way. Leo is a regal sign, but also one of great romantic potential. These are the days of summer love, so enjoy them! The Uranus retrograde can bring someone very unique into your life, someone you likely noticed first in March of this year or May of 2010. If this is the case, and Uranus has brought a soulmate to your life, do not let them get away as God has brought them to you. The road will not be easy, but there is no other road to be likened to it, nor will there ever be in your life…or theirs.

June 2011 Highlights

I hope all of you had a nice little respite last month, with the changing of the guard from militant Aries to easy-going, sultry and stolid Taurus. Lucky Jupiter will carry on the effects of Taurus in a big manner after the first week of June for approximately a year. Jupiter is all about making us think of the Great Beyond, taking us on journeys and adventures afar and teaching us the simple art of giving with our whole heart. Jupiter in Taurus makes these things more bountiful and gives lessons of why the earth needs our love. Jupiter and Venus (Taurus’ ruler) are friends, even on a bad day, so we will see many “overcomers” with this energy. Overcoming is a personal act of dignity and persistence in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, but mostly it is a blessing of strength and reinforcement from God. Jupiter gives us the opportunity and talent to triumph in the face of obstacles, and Taurus gives us the pluck and determination to hang on when others would give up. If you want to obtain a goal now, you will strive for it with all your heart: If you love someone, it is a persistent, non-wavering love where you will move mountains for this person.

Jupiter in Taurus gives what we call “natural gifts” and seemingly inherent talents. Common sense can also be found with this combination, as earthy signs like Taurus lean towards the practical and pragmatic. The area of your chart which it touches is an area where you are more than willing to make great sacrifices for a labor of love. Anything you give is given with full effort because you actually love doing it, so what is deemed “natural talent” by others is actually something you do well because you have spent time and effort on it.

Taurus is a financial sign and one of materialism, which is given a more generous and benevolent nature with Jupiter. Though, in some cases this combination could bring a financial hardship due to an overoptimistic investment or business deal.

Taureans will have a wonderful little uplift this year with Jupiter gracing your sign. You will have a plethora of opportunities to gain in whatever area of your life which Jupiter resides. For instance, if you have it in your 2nd house of earned income, business opportunities will assail you or you could be given a nice raise or bonus. If it is harbored in your first house you will be the focus of attention and on the A-list of the elite, movers and shakers of your world. Watch this particular configurations however because it can bring over indulgences which are not good for your overall health. If it holds court in your 9th house, which is Jupiter’s Home, scholarships may change your life or that of your child. The 9th house also rules your 2nd marriage, and for those who had a horrible experience with a first marriage, a true “knight or lady in shining armor” could come to your rescue.

And as if Jupiter moving into Taurus were not rich enough fare, I still have more to serve you on this smorgasbord of celestial happenings. There will be a solar eclipse in Gemini on June 1st. Solar eclipses are more geared for the events of the outer world, as in governmental happenings. The Ancients believed solar eclipses to be sinister omens bringing the demise of leaders and catastrophes to the masses. We no longer believe eclipses are evil harbingers of calamity, but rather that they bring about culmination and focus to an area of life. This happens more dramatically in the locations in which the eclipse path can be seen (in this case Africa, Asia and Europe). This solar eclipse will take place in Gemini, the sign of duality, networking, siblings and local travel. People who have Gemini in their chart prominently could hear news with regard to their career or an authority figure in their life.

Then, we will have a lunar eclipse on the 15th. This one will be in Gemini’s opposite sign, Sagittarius. Lunar eclipses tend to bring changes to us on a more emotional and personal level. This eclipse can be seen near sunrise in parts of Asia, Australia and the Philippines. Lunar eclipses can bring home and family issues to light which may have been repressed or hidden. Hospital workers, paramedics, police and other service industry personnel should plan for the weirdos to be out en force.

The lunar eclipse being in Sagittarius brings the desire to make things better for those dear to us but also it will reinforce the need for independence. Those in relationships could be hit with a “wild hare” now and feel a need to have their “space”. This energy can also bring about a moment or two of solidarity or patriotic pathos. Sagittarius wants us to think about what it is we truly believe in. God, Country, loved ones?? What is your hierarchy? What loss would you be willing to undergo to achieve that which you believe? Rarely do we get to reach great heights without going through a few valleys. Can you survive your valleys with the equipment and support at your disposal now?

I must also mention that there will be a final eclipse upon the axis of Cancer and Capricorn on July 1st. This one is a partial solar eclipse, making it not as powerful in nature as a total eclipse, but certainly not to be overlooked as it is the last in this series of eclipses. If you are a Cancer or a Capricorn and you have had any major issues in your life, then expect this to signal the last opportunity to make it right. This isn’t a small thing, it is a BIG thing. And likely more intrinsic, inherent and soul level than you might have ever imagined. Eclipses patterns are harbingers of things which we have ignored for far too long.

Cancer is a sign of home and family while Capricorn is hinged in the “establishment” and seekers of leadership. If your family has lived in the same place, the same way for eons, perhaps it is time to make a major change. We have seen tornado, flood, tsunami, earthquake and economic calamity come along in the last 12 months and “POOF” lives are in turmoil. Horrible, deplorable and heart wrenching turmoil. However it is also a major wake up call for some souls and the Universe is demanding that they stretch beyond what they envisioned their capacity ever was and find a path that is not so worn and tattered, and perhaps less comfortable.

These particular eclipse patterns are happening at such a time that nearly every part of the world is being harkened to their call. The culmination of the eclipses in Cancer and Capricorn will bring finality to situations. Standing on our own and being a leader as opposed to clinging to a way of life which may be blocking our ability to learn and achieve what we have been sent here to do or the pursuit of a career at the detriment of family are just a couple of scenarios applicable to this energy depending on how your natal chart is configured. Have you neglected your family or have you clung to them like a little child? Have you worked hard at making your place in the world or have you missed out on opportunities to make a secure foundation for your family? You will know by July 1st as to whether the Universe and God agrees with your path, if not, another is likely to open up for you.

The new eclipse pattern of Gemini and Sagittarius is one of small town verses globalization, high school degrees verses college degrees and community government verses national interests. In some cases those who have retained their roots will show those who have been out in the world a better way to live. In other cases, the adventurers will be seen as conquering heroes or their experience will bring new ideas to outmoded systems. Expanded opportunities and experience can be attained in the global community. However, people staying in places for their whole lives know and understand their communities at a deeper level, and perhaps have a more vested interest. Because the nodes also follow eclipse patterns however, we need to consider that the north node is in Sagittarius which indicates that a more global awareness is needed, as well as a focus on higher education and understanding the vastly differing philosophies of varied cultures.

Influxes of variant people due to catastrophe and global upheaval will cause major problems if the “locals” are not aware of differences and able to accommodate them, or at least be aware that their customs and mores are not the only relevant ones if all are to become amalgamated into a respectful and thriving community. The future is bringing the need for the melding of ideologies so we may continue to offer safe harbor “for huddled masses yearning to breathe free”, as our beautiful Statue of Liberty invites. Not just in America, but in all areas of the world that preach Freedom and open their doors to the “homeless, tempest tossed”. These words are sacred to Americans, may God let them be sacred in the actions of all nations believing in the free-will of their people, as God intended.

April 2011 Highlights

I wrote a little ditty on the movement of Neptune into Pisces last month, so you can read about it in more depth HERE. This movement happens on the 4th and is another one of those “Big Deal” happenings we on planet Earth are undergoing. To back up a tad, I also want to mention a smaller planetary movement happening on the 1st. Mars will move into its Home sign of Aries on that date, bringing the total of planets in Aries to five…and on Sunday the moon will follow bringing a new moon in Aries! To my Aries readers, and to those of us whose moon , ascendant, Venus or Mars is in Aries, get ready for an energy surge. Aries carries the energy of children, a feeling of exuberance and freedom…and selfish desires. This sign is brave, ruling heroes such as firefighters, police persons and emergency room personnel. Any adrenalin junkie you know probably has planets in Aries or in their 1st house. We can conquer the world (or we think we can) with this energy. We do have the courage to move mountains now, and God willing, we will.

As far as global indications however, this is a volatile energy package and all areas of endeavor which appear to be “set to blow” likely will, if they did not under the Perigee full moon we had on the 19th of March (the last one until 2029) in which the moon looked around 14% brighter than normal because it was approximately 31,000 miles closer to us. This moon happened in analytical Virgo, whose ruler is Mercury. On the 17th of March, MESSENGER took up orbit around Mercury to take a final look (it’s been by two other times, but did not orbit) at this tricky, enigmatic planet. Mercury went retrograde on March 30th and won’t go direct until April 23rd. This brings a time to revisit issues which need re-evaluating or time to get in touch with someone from your past to try and work things out that might have gone awry and caused you to cease your association. Doesn’t mean you will become buddies again, but you can at least clear the air.

Speaking of retrogrades, Pluto will go retrograde on the 9th of April. I don’t care if he is a planet, a dwarf or a planetoid, if it travels around our sun I say it affects our planets vibrations and will be counted in my energy prognostications. Chiron is "merely" an asteroid, and I can guarantee it is worth watching and casts its spell on the people of our planet at will. Don’t count Pluto out, he is not gone…nor is his energy.

Pluto will be retrograde until September 17th, 2011. Pluto is the ruler of darkness, invisibility, stealth, and was known as the god of wealth by the Greeks. He was known as Hades to them and presided over the underworld and rarely ventured out of it unless cloaked in his mantle of invisibility. He was also a kidnapper and the Greeks believed that the seasons were brought about by his abduction of his wife, Persephone. The story goes that Persephone was out picking flowers one day and Pluto opened a crater in the earth near her and snatched her into the underworld, making her his wife. The goddess Demeter (Persephone's mom) who was the overseer of grain and harvest, was extremely upset by the disappearance of her daughter and looked everywhere for her. She brought famine to the earth with her sorrow. Zeus finally had to step in, but it was too late because Persephone had already partaken of the things of the underworld (like pomegranates). The best that could be done for Persephone was to have her live a third of the year in the underworld with Pluto, which brought about winter to the upper world. When she comes back to live amongst us in the spring, she brings the flowers with her.

So, it sounds like Pluto is a lonely soul who had to kidnap someone to get her to stay with him in the land of the dead. Pluto may rule over death, which sounds scary, but to many of us death is just a transformation into a better place. And Pluto rules transformation in all its forms, from the brutal cold of winter transforming into the sunny warm breezes of spring, to the sorrow and suffering of death leading to a rebirth into spirit form where there is no more pain and we all look our best and can be our best. Pluto is known for taking something away from us for which we have grown too dependent upon, opening up doors for us which will allow us to continue our path of growth on this plane of existence. Never does Pluto take something away from us without giving a replacement of something much better. He has learned the lesson of compassion as he dwelled alone among the dead and looks forward to the brief time his only love, Persephone, spends with him. Knowing he must let her go after a time in order for her spirit to thrive and come back to him. Deep stuff…which IS the land of Pluto.

Pluto still rules over Scorpio, the sign which is depicted as a Phoenix rising from the ashes: Teaching us that we must sometimes suffer in order to again rise upon the winds of triumph. Pluto is the planet that gives us our will: Our will to keep preserving in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Pluto is an extremely resilient energy. It is also a very controlling energy and many of those with this sign strongly configured in their chart have a need to manipulate others into their schemes and plans. This does not necessarily make them evil, only misguided, and in need of learning the lessons of this energy themselves…which they will.

As this planet goes backwards, there are vast opportunities to do research on those things which cause pain and death. Pluto’s energy can remove toxins and poisons from people and the earth, or allow mortals to figure out the means to do so. However, due to its association with invisibility, I worry about the true effects of the nuclear fallout on Japan and the rest of the world. It is difficult to fight that which we can’t see and I know that doses of radiation are not a good thing in large doses, and perhaps for some, even in small doses. Each one of our DNA is different and each one reacts differently to the introduction of foreign bodies. A positive which is coming from the Japanese catastrophe is that the world is looking more closely at all the nuclear facilities. Hopefully the one near New York at Indian Point is first on the list given how many people it would affect were it to have a problem, as well as its number one placement on the listing of plants which would have problems if there were to be an earthquake there.

May 2011 Highlights

May is the first month of 2011 that doesn’t have a number of major planetary shifts and changes, so let us hope that we can all greatly benefit from this month’s relative quietude. The past few months have brought so many confounding issues that for some it has probably felt like they are carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. These larger energies (such as the change of Uranus into Aries and Neptune moving into Pisces) are still in play of course, but we here on planet Earth are getting a little more used to them and therefore are better able to tolerate and cope. Also, as May commences, we even have communicative Mercury traveling forward and assuming normal speed, so things can start getting done more promptly and with fewer inconveniences.

Mars is the only planet that is going to punch us with a few relevant vibes during May, and he gets started with them on the 2nd when he conjuncts Lucky Jupiter and enters into his own sign, Aries. The first week of May are prime days for action and exercise certainly, also one for skirmishes, hot spots and flare ups. The worst case scenario is that Mars could act as a potent trigger point for all the Aries build up we have discussed for the last couple of months. Therefore, if you have been bereft of any real status quo changes so far this year, this movement might signal that it is your turn to sample the enthusiastic, aggressive, revolutionary life alterations so many others have already experienced.

Mars will soon thereafter (on the 12th) move out of the gang of rambunctious Aries planets and into peaceful, slow and earthy Taurus. This isn’t a real good fit for Mars, from a compatibility standpoint, but it will at least take one of the more potent players off the Aries team. Two more playmates will put in their resignation on the 16th, those being Mercury and Venus, leaving only Jupiter and Uranus in Aries. Even Jupiter will jump ship from bossy, trigger happy Aries very early next month and into more docile, sensual Taurus. Consequently, gang mentality, chaos making Uranus will be all alone, a place he very much hates to be I might add. This will not squelch entirely his antics, but it will greatly diminish them, and the slower moving planets will not join him again in Aries this trip, which lasts for seven more years.

Taurus rules nature and allows for some of the basking and lazing we are more apt to enjoy in the Spring and early Summer months. Summer loves will begin now, some of which will endure long past summer. Gardening, yard work, and Spring cleaning are enjoyable Taurus activities. The most derogatory issue with Taurus is that it can be egregiously avarice, and likes to be waited upon more than any other sign, except Leo, the sign of kings and overlords. Taurus is not a sign of anger as a rule, however when they are enraged watch out, as this is where the expression “mad as a bull” should have originated.

The 16th also has a lovely energy happening between Venus and Neptune that speaks of love and enjoyable, relaxing times: A wonderful time to contemplate your navel…or someone else’s.

Mercury, Venus and Mars will all trine obsessive Pluto on the weekend of the 21st. Those who have begun a new romance will be fully enthralled, and it is likely that others will begin to notice your coupledom eliciting responses ranging anywhere from jealousy and envy to full blown rage. If you can ignore these outside influences, you could have one of the most fascinating weekends of the summer getting to know your new friend.

The following weekend is most notable for its lack of new energy (few major transits of the moon even); therefore, it stands to reason that you could have a continued theme from the previous week. This is a holiday weekend in the U.S., Memorial Day, and one which those who have passed on will be remembered by the adorning of their gravesite. For others it is the first real weekend of summer fun. Enjoy yourself in the great outdoors if you are so inclined.

March 2011 Highlights

March 1st has Venus, planet of loveliness and money, moving into surprising and weird air sign Aquarius. Also on this day, Venus will be sextiling Aquarius’ ruler Uranus. This is a double dose of the same energy, and while it isn’t a really strong influence when each is taken alone, culminating in nothing more than running into someone you have a crush on at the grocery store or finding a lost $20.00 in your coat pocket: The two together can ignite some stronger themes, along that same vein and beyond, especially when spurred on by a sign change involving the planets involved.

Additionally, the following week of Mardi Gras has Venus sextiling Jupiter, and if you remember last summer when Jupiter first entered Aries as did Uranus, resulting in a conjunction between the two, then you’ll see this energy pattern as a longer term influence which is now having its last hurrah. Uranus will move into Aries (as Jupiter did on 1/20/11) on 3/11 leaving Pisces for good, well, until next time around which isn’t until like 2087. Consequently, the first two weeks are bringing us the final pangs of energy from last summer. If you met someone very special last summer, and you were seriously smitten, you may get one more chance for a rendezvous.

However, Uranus is an extremely difficult energy to discern because of its job as one of God’s most definitive and effective messengers; it’s energies are sent into the fray in order to unsettle us, take our breath away, open our minds with moments of sheer genius, explode us out of any situation that God thinks we need to move past and thump us soundly when we won’t listen and change. What I can tell you for sure is that if Uranus in Aries hits an important area in your natal chart between now and 2018, it will be memorable. And it WILL hit something, just due to the length of time to be considered.

Leaders are ruled by Aries and the world very much needs to find some with the magnanimous, freedom loving and courageous virtues of Jupiter. Jupiter is a great promoter of free will, which is a wonderful ideology. Once we chose to exert our free will however, we must also be willing to endure the consequences of our decisions. This is something Aries has a bit of a hard time with and we may see a few leaders and head office types become quite cranky that their decisions were followed to the detriment of all involved. Part of being a leader is being able to live with the decisions you made for others…especially the bad ones… also to rectify them if at all possible at whatever cost to yourself. Otherwise, unmitigated wrongs will begin to form a chain dragging you down which could rival that of poor Mr. Marley of Charles Dicken’s fame.

When I think of a Jupiter/Uranus signature (from a positive perspective) I visualize things like what just happened in Egypt. I see sudden, life changing gifts given to freedom fighters of all credos and climes. I imagine beneficent ideologies exalted by people in ivory towers actually being made into a reality. And I know that with this energy, our gut wrenching, heartfelt prayers are more graciously accepted and considered by God in charting our course through life, in particular, when we pray intercessory prayers. Jupiter/Uranus brings huge changes and major unexpected developments to situations that have long needed amending.

As Uranus moves into Aries for the long term, I will again mention that this is an explosive, dissident, warrior energy when used negatively. If you have Aries as a strong signature in your chart, you are going to feel rebellious and, perhaps, confused. Use the next seven or eight years to broaden your mind rather than experiencing the more negative attributes. If you have an Aries person in your life, they may become more scattered and strange. If you are in a relationship with one, it may end quite suddenly; others will enter into partnerships with Ariens impetuously, which probably won’t last longer than a decade unless you have some stabilizing influences from earth signs to ground you.

Uranus rules air travel and aviators, humanitarian groups, progressives, inventors, irresponsibility, reform movements, independence, spirit winds, nonconformists, friendships, computers, eccentrics, geniuses, unstructured endeavors, entrepreneurs, electricity and astrologers. Anything ruled by Uranus is subject to disruption due to Aries’ less noble attributes. Aries can be a very short-sighted and selfish energy…their mantra is “me first!” after all. But it is also brave, action oriented, pioneering, strong, independent (something it has in common with Uranus), fearless and passionate. Without Aries we would never get anything started.

The end of the month has a retrograde of Mercury, which is a tiny bit spooky with Uranus just changing signs. This retrograde will last until April 23rd, but consider it in play until the end of April. Contracts, computers and communications will experience snafus: Detours and delays for commuters and fliers. This is the “No Shopping Zone”. Up side is that you can revamp plans, talk out problems and revisit places from your past. We often hear from people from our pasts during Mercury retrograde periods as well.

Venus enters Pisces the last week of March. This is a sweet energy, so maybe while you wait in line or are stuck in traffic you will encounter someone special. Money could show up unexpectedly, but don’t sign on for any contract work until the beginning of May. Spring will be in the air for a few of the lucky people a lot further south than I am. Get outside and enjoy the fresh air and beauty of nature.

We also have Jupiter in Aries opposing Saturn in Libra. This meeting is due to Saturn being retrograde, so it isn’t as acknowledged as a first pass, but still relevant as anything that was not addressed by the first opposition on 6/17/10, will be now, albeit more subtly perhaps: Though with Saturn you can’t count on anything being too subtle…not his forte. Jupiter opposing Saturn brings hesitation in our goals. If a project you have been working on since perhaps early in 2010 starts falling apart, blame this energy. However, don’t get caught up in the “blame game” which is so prevalent amongst the more immature souls on the planet. If you have taken a stance that is unpopular, you don’t have to let them make you wallow in it, but you do have to take responsibility for it. If a goal you badly wanted to attain is drifting out of your reach, you may have to let it go now, or maybe rethink your strategy. Jupiter in Aries’ full on press may be a little harsh and class-less, you might try more egalitarian measures. Or if you have tried taking the high ground and maintaining decorum with aggressive, dictatorial types, it may be time to become much more aggressive or use legal means to achieve your desired results.

Oppositions are also the key player in opposites attract. Being a hopeless romantic, I see hearts and flowers in all linkings in some way or another (realistically or not...make lemonade out of lemons!). At any rate, instant sparks are available due to Uranus being on the move, and oppositions have a way of bringing people together that might otherwise never meet. This wouldn’t be an easy repartee at the outset, but I suspect it would be one of the most exciting you’ll ever encounter. And perhaps the most athletic…read into that what you want. When I first wrote that line that’s not what I meant, but as I think about it, it is true from both perspectives since Mars rules both athletics and sex. Happy hunting!

February 2011 Highlights

Read Tim Stephens @ Astral Reflections for his explanation of the recent hullabalu in the news regarding your sign changing. The long and the short of it is that most western astrologers use the tropical zodiac to cast charts here in the western world (and always have). The tropical method is based on the seasons. I use it because the Bible says to look to the Heavens “…for signs and for seasons…”.

February, the month for romance, is shaping up quite well for those who have been in a relationship for a long time, or for those who have a bit of grey in their hair. Add to this list also, those in high school, teachers, neighbors, car pool buddies and other commuters.

Saturn is very prominent in the solar chart for Valentine’s Day, and is receiving a very lovely romantic boost from the sun and ultra-romantic Neptune. Saturn is not the most helpful planet to younger, more inexperienced people because he demands a great deal of time, effort and attention be spent on anything to which he gives his blessings or support. Consequently, those who have been in a relationship for more than ten years are more likely to feel very special and appreciated by their love this Valentine’s Day, maybe even being whisked off to some exotic clime for a long delayed vacation.

If you are involved with someone seriously and have been dating a long time, but have been wary of trusting your heart to the deep feelings you would like to show, now would be a very good time to take your relationship to another level. This is especially true with those for whom this would be a second marriage. Don’t be shy or embarrassed by your feelings, it is perfectly okay for the older sect to act like teenagers when it comes to love if that is how they feel. Who said giggling and snuggling are just reserved for young love?

Speaking of teenagers, your teen may be in the throes of a major love affair. This is likely to come on quite suddenly too. Study dates, attending sporting events for which they previously had no interest, working out, or spending a lot of time at a neighbor’s house could be an indicator of a blossoming romance.

Another avenue for romance can come from neighbors who find that the person across the fence is extremely cute. Love can come to the two of you if you have known each other a while, or again, if you are older or a Capricorn by sign. The long term thing isn’t necessarily a given for neighbors, teachers or high schoolers however. For these 3rd house described individuals the romance involved is more of a major [read:HUGE] infatuation, which could be the most amazing relationship you will ever encounter. For long term stability though, you will need some support by Saturn in your natal chart. Just enjoy your time together, however long it lasts. You are creating some wonderful memories which can bring a smile to your heart even on the darkest of days.

There is also mention in the Valentine’s Day solar chart of covert love affairs. These aren’t to be taken lightly by any of the parties involved. In fact, due to the all or nothing energy at the end of the month between Jupiter and Pluto affecting us all, ultimatums will be flying around the earth. If your love isn’t something you can take out into the light of day, perhaps it is time to “fish or cut bait”, to use a very colloquial idiom.

The Jupiter/Pluto square I mentioned happens towards the end of February. This isn’t necessarily a friendly energy, but one where goodness can overcome evil. Jupiter is strong in Aries, while Pluto is holed up in the confused and deceptive house of self-undoing. He is being softened by Venus, which probably just serves to make him wishy-washy, but maybe it will lessen his harsher attributes. If this energy does happen to drop negatively into your world, expect an ending that will be very final indeed.

Worst case scenario? We could see violence or lower conscience based mob mentality if Venus can’t tame Pluto (which would be a short term fix, by the way). Add to this the negative potentials associated with a square and we see Jupiter overreacting with brute force adding fuel to the residual fire of the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction thus creating anarchy and entropy. Yeah…um…let’s stick to the higher consciousness levels shall we?

A better alternative is that Pluto and Venus will bring a great deal of power, especially to those aligned with large bureaucracies, though it will likely have to be wielded like a puppet-master rather than in a straightforward manner. This methodology will work when it is used to help others, but if it is used solely in the netherworld of evil doing, self-promotion or manipulation, Jupiter will be more than willing to fight, and I have no doubt who will win should push come to shove. For not only is the strength of Aries with Jupiter, but the element of surprise and genius is also attending.

December 2010 Highlights

The 7th – 10th is the heaviest hitting week of December, astrologically speaking. Uranus goes direct, which anytime Uranus does anything, it is noteworthy. Uranus is the transcendental planet most likely to create an impact on the day it is triggered. Not always, but more so than the rest of them. He acts quickly, and often impetuously, bringing change to people whose head is too hard to penetrate by other more subtle means. Which is why he also rules explosions, chaos, rebellion and is associated with tornadoes and earthquakes. Nothing understated about him. As he moves forward things will begin to happen with alacrity.

Oh, and air travel, let us not forget the hot topic of air travel and the feds who like to ogle us from behind their screen now that they can see every bump on our bodies. I think only eunuchs should be allowed to have that job. If they can’t make that machine “self- assess” the images, they need to figure something else out. I’ve been patted down so many times it doesn’t bother me, but I’ve never gotten a truly surly agent either. Probably makes the process a lot worse if you do. So, the whole TSA rebellion thing is happening exactly when it should.

Good things about Uranus? Genius. Serendipity. Meeting people with whom you click instantaneously and can share laughter and spontaneity. Uranus going forward will bring us more giggles and sharp insights. And we will need it because Mars is moving into Capricorn on the 7th, which is a pretty difficult energy, and on the 10th we have the dreaded Mercury retrograde. Holiday shopping is going to be a real mess because of this. Yes, you can find stuff to buy, but they won’t like it, or it won’t work or you will find it cheaper two days later. This is a real drag given the time of year it is.

This, Uranus forward, Mercury backward and Mars into Cappy, is also dangerous for transportation in general. Be extra, extra careful wherever you may go, even if it is just to work. The mix of Uranus and Mars is often found with accidents, as in vehicular crashes. Verbal and mobility issues of all kinds are apt to change, be dramatic and cause a stir.

Lastly, on the 21st, there is a Lunar Eclipse and the Winter Solstice. Good news is it is in its home sign of Cancer. Bad news is that Cancer has to do with home and hearth and this is the time of year to be upset with people around the Thanksgiving table. For those of my readers outside the US, you are not interested in our Thanksgiving ritual; regardless you could feel rather out of sorts or nostalgic around this time anyway, probably having something to do with family or home. Same warnings about shopping still apply to you, sorry.

Monthlies will be short and sweet this month. I am working on yearlies. Hope to have them out in a timely manner.

May 2011 Highlights

November 2010 Highlights

We have several excellent changes this month, which should make life a lot more tolerable, or at least easier to decipher. Venus is retrograding back into its Home sign Libra for a short while after the 7th, specifically from the 9th of November to the 1st of December, after that Scorpio will rule Venus for its time. If you need to do any negotiations with a partner, especially on issues you have tried to discuss before but have come to an impasse, the Venus retro period might be a good time to reconvene. Perhaps it is also time to call in a mediator. Venus retros bring old friends and past money problems back into your life giving you a chance to get them sorted out.

Neptune, planet of oceans and other large bodies of water, dreams, memories and liars, will be moving from retrograde to forward motion, on the 7th. If something in your world has been unclear, Neptune’s forward motion will allow you to unearth what is hidden. Neptune, remember, is the ruler of the 12th house and Pisces, all of which have been called “the dustbin of the zodiac” by other more prominent astrologers than I. (Sorry, but I can’t remember who said it first). Problem with Neptune is that, well, you just can’t trust it, except when it turns all ubber savior like on you, then it may be the only hope you need .

Neptune rules the idealistic among us, and while it is nice to harbor those pie in the sky ideals, they just don’t always fly fiscally or realistically. The UK, France and the US are experiencing the aftermath of a pre-eminence of power through both idealists and probably charlatans. The public is now going to pay for their naiveté’ or perhaps shysterism. I wish we lived in a world with unlimited resources where everyone worked for the joy of accomplishment and contribution. We don’t. Time to replant our feet on the ground and make the hard decisions: Which will hold true for our everyday lives now and none of the options may solve all the problems. We have to find the best way to create the least harm. Sometimes that is the best you can do. A social work axiom I have always remembered is that sometimes you have to pick the “least worst scenario”. I hope your world allows you more and better options then some of us have had of late.

Perhaps the most important time for us this month will be when Jupiter adds his forward momentum to Venus’ on the 18th . This is a pretty good auspice and at least offers a feeling of abundance for a change. All of your dealings with partners, friends and lovers will go better than they have in a while and you have an opportunity to expand your influence and your talents to people who can make your dreams come true. Just don’t fall for some smarmy soul who makes promises that they can’t deliver. Also, having too many irons in the fire can trip you up now. Mostly though, I believe this will be a nice reprieve for many who have suffered a lot. Please pray for those who have reached the end of their options and for whom a release of some sort might be a blessing. Sometimes Jupiter takes us away from a situation…or a life…when it has become too painful to any longer endure. Honestly though, for most of you this can be a time of expanded opportunity to make money and receive love.

This is because Jupiter is in Pisces and we have Neptune moving forward (Pisces ruler), so these foggy, fantasy driven, dreams coming true kind of energies are carrying a lot of weight. Pisces is the sign of divine intervention, prayer, and fantasy (and also of some of the most pathetic souls on the planet when afflicted), but we’ll concentrate on the Divine; Jupiter rules higher values and true faith. Each of us could be given a wonderful gift, one for which you probably will not be expecting and one which can mean the world to you or those you love. And yes. Miracles are still lurking, as if we need that affirmation after the miners were rescued. However, there are a lot of others who could use one about now. Keep praying for the kids and young adults with neuroblastoma.
