“Home sweet home…,” this is what Jupiter would say if it could talk as it enters its personal domain of Sagittarius. This transfer will happen on the 23rd of November with the gas giant leaving Scorpio behind to fend for itself after offering its protective, expansive influence to the intense and brooding sign all year. Jupiter in Sagittarius is benevolence par excellence and will bring a boost of enthusiasm and luck to the Sagittarians’ on planet earth as well as the area of your natal chart where Jupiter resides and where it is transiting. In some cases it may not offer as much luck as it does protection from the evils of the world and from self made foibles. In general, this placement brings humor, tolerance, celebrations, faith, a need for adventure, issues of the hunter and the hunted, freedom and human compassion. Since Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, all things related and ruled by these two powers will be in vogue…in a big way. Such as: Sports, horses, religion, philosophy, “higher education” (this means collegiate studies…not getting stoned and reading Shakespeare), foreign cultures, sporting events, bachelors/bachelorettes, honorable endeavors, the justice system, judges, professors, the clergy, international travel and finance, leaders, doctors, all authority figures, science, and successful enterprises. This energy fully depicts “the land of the free and the home of the brave”. Freedom is its mantra. The downside? (You know there is one, there always is). Can we say over-optimism? Think of General Custer’s last stand. This is the energy of buying something we can’t afford, taking more than our fair share (using people), not looking before we leap, taking on more than we can handle, putting our foot in our mouth and promising more than we can possibly deliver. If something appears to be too good to be true, it probably is, so we can’t let enthusiasm blind us. I wouldn’t call this exactly a con man kind of energy, but it is certainly opportunistic; watch for the users of the world to be on the prowl. Religion will be front and center, even more so than they have been. Issues of freedom and the price it takes to keep us free will be made even more prominent. What are we willing to put up with in our fight for our rights? Should everyone, every government, be trusted to have the same rights and arms? What price is too high to pay to keep us free? Should everyone be free to do and act and say anything they want? Who gets to draw the line in the sand? And since, as I mentioned a moment ago, these combined energies are the epitome of opportunistic, our enemies will be looking for every opportunity to trip us up, and unfortunately, we could be too trusting or celebrating when they find the chance to do so. Be very careful whom you trust because while God does protect fools and little children when possible, we are expected to develop and use our discernment. Jupiter in Sagittarius is very involved in our faith. What do we believe in? Who are our heroes and do they deserve this title? Is God part of our life or do we only believe in our own power? Do we have to see things to believe them, or do we understand that “we walk by faith, not by sight?” People will be seeking their truth now…”seeking to be fed” as the Bible says. We live in an age when good and evil are more tangible, more obvious. Because we are smarter? Maybe. Or perhaps because the world is getting smaller and we get more practice using our instincts as our population grows and as a result of the information and communication age. Or maybe…just maybe…it is time. The universe runs according to a set of rules and preordained timetables…and the cosmic playbook is saying, “make it so”, to quote one of my Star Trek heroes. We need to become more enlightened to human suffering and the implications of our actions upon others. We need to know that the world is full of God’s creatures and we are to respect them all. Of course, that doesn’t mean we are to ignore the facts. And the fact remains that the world is full of opportunists and people who believe violence is the way to make converts. At least with this energy we have hope that the peaceful option will be more powerful than the more negative tones. As I stated initially, planets at home by sign are comfortable. They play well with each other and will work towards their end result with confidence because they are both on the “same page”…they agree on the best path to get from point A to point B. If a planet, especially a personal planet, in our natal chart is aspected by this energy, expect some type of amazing expansion, increased optimism, a joining with like minded others to help reach your goals, and a great need for freedom to occur. Good things are definitely attainable with this energy. However, if we have a badly aspected Jupiter in our natal chart or we are prone to exaggerate or be bombastic, (in other words we enjoy being an asshole) this energy will make us worse and if the cosmos is tired of our tirade and narcissistic self importance, we will fall in a humiliatingly big way. You know how it goes folks. Big rises equal big falls if the structure you have built your life on is not blessed. Those that climb high in this life are doubly prone to a major debacle if they veer off the path chosen for them or hurt others on the way towards their goals. Not because the universe (God) hates them, but because we learn much more from strife than we do from ease, AND because the world has an internal mechanism for keeping things in balance. Always remember that “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”. This configuration will bring easy pleasures to most, and some massive tumbles down the tree of life for others who are in need of correcting. All in all, this is a great energy. My advice? Welcome it…and walk softly. ![]() Copyright ©2004-2007. It is illegal to reproduce or distribute this work without written permission of the author. You may contact the author via this website.
