Happy New Year! We are entering into 2013, a year slated for partnerships, legalities and movement forward at a direct and forceful pace. One item of note is that Mars, planet of initiative, aggression, males, sex, war and bravery will not have a retrograde station this year, which is not a rare occurrence (happens every couple of years), merely notable. Therefore we will need to respond to situations with a clear purpose as we will not have time to rethink our actions. There should be a good deal of forward momentum, so be alert and aware of the direction of your goals. There will be five eclipses, which are normal occurrences, though more often there are only four eclipses in a year. The eclipses will be along a continuum of signs with the first being in Scorpio, then Taurus, Sagittarius, Aries and Scorpio to end. There will be one more lunar eclipse than solar and none will be a total eclipse. Much quantity of ground will be covered by these eclipses and many issues highlighted from intensity to avarice to exploration to war and back again to obsession. The first major transit of the year will occur on March 8th and involves timekeeper, ever diligent and devilish Saturn and underworld dwelling, transformative Pluto. The transit will actually bring some level of opportunity for stabilizing a situation which has been exceedingly full of hardship. There is a mutual reception now between these two rather mean spirited energies, making them more malleable, maybe. Diligent work will begin to shore up difficulties which may have been hidden. Do not be coerced into merely putting a band-aide on a situation which is destined to seethe into a spewing cauldron of muck at a later date, probably in a few short years. Now is the time to work your ass off and carefully build a foundation for your future. If you can stay on task, your peers and superiors will definitively understand that you are a force to be reckoned with and will cease to seek you out for competitive jibes or lowly tasks. The end of March is calling for an adjustment and an expansion of your focus. You may meet someone who can open up new avenues of experience and opportunity for you. Everyone’s ambition will be heightened and those in power will see there is a group of newbies that actually know what they are talking about and should be given room to function. In some cases, Pluto will throw cold water on a situation which was running amuck. However, there are actually a number of other minor transits around this time which indicate happy circumstances and unexpected opportunities to make friends, money and maybe even meet a new love! In May we have a difficult transit between Uranus and Pluto. This will be of particular interest to those who have Uranus conjunct Pluto in their natal charts. No one gets out unscathed from this one even if you don’t have a configuration involving these two planets natally (though those who do really will need to pay attention). Uranus is probably the most odd planetary energy in the spectrum of energies. Quirky is a great word to describe it, as is crazy, broadminded, eccentric, ingenious and sudden. Pluto? Well, call him a dwarf if you want, but as the saying goes, “dynamite comes in small packages” and I can assure you he has lost none of his bang. The planets orbiting our sun are all relevant to us, as are the asteroids. If our sun attracts it, our energy field feels it. So, under no circumstance disregard Pluto, lord of transformation, regeneration and death. Uranus and Pluto have eternally been the harbingers of revolution. When Uranus and Pluto were conjunct during the early 1960’s we were in the throes of the counterculture. So when these two planets get together again on the 20th of May in a very fractious affiliation, rest assured it will be exceedingly interesting. The children born at this time will also have a pronounced role to play in the future of humanity. For now, expect to see institutions, associations and relationships which serve no useful purpose come to an end. Powers beyond your control can cause life altering changes. If you are on a path that the Universe deems useless to your overall development, it will be altered and ended regardless of your wishes. Many will be out of options and these people may become downright dangerous. And, there will also be those who are extraordinarily prophetic and will burst out of obscurity to lead us into…crap…I don’t know what. Oblivion? Utopia? Follow only after due evaluation. By the 12th of June you should know if your patron is from Mordor or the Shire. Learning, building and work will be easier than usual and intuitive insights will be flying about with abandon. This is a pleasant configuration and will bring tangible results to idealized theories. If you have a dream which you have been striving diligently to make come true this is the time you can actually see it to fruition. Those who have built a sure structure of power will be able to sell other people whatever bill of goods they wish. Make sure you aren’t a buyer of a beach house upon the river Styx. August is a month of energies which have the potential of being life enhancing. Jupiter will actually reignite the power of the square between Uranus and Pluto mentioned a couple of paragraphs ago. Jupiter expands all he touches and can infuse situations with joie de vivre. The other side is that the combo of Uranus and Pluto is a stronger and longer lasting force than the one of Jupiter, therefore in those cases when something has been overdone or taken to an extreme, there will be the likelihood of a cessation. Jupiter is the patron of the legal system and does everything in a very big way. I would expect to see some verdicts handed down by the Supreme Court, or some sea change in a verdict that has implications on laws on the books making them no longer viable or relevant and changing the way future cases will be handled. The later quarter of September will bring in another visit from the Saturn and Pluto configuration of March, so this is a longer than average lasting energy due to the retrograde period of Saturn. The effects will be more pronounced and lasting due to Saturn now moving forward. You will be able to tweak plans made in March until September and implement them with greater assurance of success now. Early October has Saturn reigning in Uranus and making him be more responsible. This is another opportunity for talent to meet a manager and see if their collaboration can culminate in good things happening for both. Uranus will be retrograde when it meets up again with Pluto on the 1st of November. This indicates that the disrupting forces will weaken, or perhaps merely go into covert mode. Changes in power structures will be contemplated by opposing forces, to be implemented sometime in the first quarter of 2014. This same time frame could indicate a planning period, can be applied to a number of efforts from recycling to kidnapping plots. In the case of recycling and preservation, new and innovative methods can be invented now which can make a real difference in resources in the coming years. There might even be a few advances in energy exploration and development, as in nuclear or fusion or something else few of us really understand. Unfortunately, with Uranus in the mix, there could be sudden problems with an existing power facility. We have to also presume that ongoing problems in the Middle East will contribute to fluctuating fuel costs. Countries with unstable governments will be particularly susceptible to this type of revolutionary energy force. Uranus and Pluto are considered “generational” forces. May of 2013, November of 2013 and April of 2014 may find a new order, either reverting back to old leaders or inaugurating a much younger regime. This structure will probably be in flux even into December 2014, due again to retrogradation continuing to trigger the transit. This energy will be close enough in orb even in 2015 and the first quarter of 2016 to create issue. Uranus and Pluto combined is a heavy energy and brings fundamental changes to the world. In the case of a square these changes are wrought even if they create difficulty or are not widely accepted. Squares are a configuration of fractious association. Hardships and sustained effort are part of this and rarely is it overly pleasant. The end of the year, December 2012, has a more easily navigated association between Jupiter and Saturn which will at least call a truce to problems, perhaps for the sake of the Season. Bosses, parents and people in leadership will be much more benevolent, even exuberantly so! This can also be a time when families see growth helping to stabilize them, which could encompass everything from a new baby to a family business to someone from your past rejoining your life and making it much more enjoyable.
