2011 Highlights and Lowlights

Jupiter and Saturn are the only planets making any major transits this year, one of them being to each other. This doesn’t mean the year will be a quiet one however. In fact, it could be quite action packed, so you might want to sip a beer or something stronger while you read this.

The reason I say it is likely to be action packed is because we have several of the outer planets in Aries for a time this year. In fact, from mid-March to around the end of April give or take a week or so either way, the sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus will all be in Aries! When Uranus moves forward in mid-May it will stay in Aries until 2018. I have to say that I find this significant, obviously for all my Aries readers, but also for the world in general. Why? Well…

Aries is a sign of action, bravery, vitality, impulsivity and selfishness. Aries is ruled by Mars, which is a masculine, egotistical, directed, sexy, all or nothing, war-mongering energy. Aries careers include soldiers, police and fire men and women, surgeons and general laborers whose work requires muscle. If we take this bold and me oriented energy and mix it with the strange, complicated, explosive, rebellious, eccentric, genius, chaos-making, schizophrenically herd following/iconoclastic energy of Uranus, life can get pretty out of sorts fast.

Brave rebels will be more than willing to stand up for a cause they believe in under this energy. Unfortunately their bravery can also be very misdirected because it is operating under the energy of Aries, a sign that can certainly do things impulsively and with judgmental and/or selfish motives; the world needs to stay on high alert for terrorists and other freaks.

On a more positive level, these two energies can certainly make things happen. You can be energized and very inventive in the area of your chart ruled by these two energies. I expect there will be lots of sudden breakthroughs in the sciences and perhaps medicine especially medicine dealing with the central nervous and musculoskeletal systems. I would also think that athletes will do some unusual, first-time-ever kinds of things. Heroes are made under these auspices.

This is not a romantic kind of energy, but if you have it hitting a relationship sector of your natal chart, you may have some quick encounters of the lustful kind. Also, people who you would have never thought you would be attracted to can make your toes tingle. Just don’t expect anything of the permanent nature from them.

Further, as far as odd energies go, we have Jupiter conjuncting Uranus on the 4th of January, so the New Year may bring someone very interesting into your life and might introduce you to the person described above who can enthrall you as no other ever has.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus is also good for promoting a person of seemingly unlimited talent, A new discovery may be made that will stir up the science fields, in fact inventers can just go crazy with this kind of assistance from the universe, so get cracking on something worthwhile for humanity will ya? All you Carnegie-Melloners, MITea-rs, and Ivy Leaguers, do something that helps lots of people, even if there’s not much money in it. This is an energy for groups to share their knowledge in order to do good for the conglomerate, so quit thinking along the lines of self-promotion for a while, could you? Might even get you into heaven clothed. Even Einstein believed in God, so just don’t go there with me, there’s never been an Einstein before or since, so don’t flatter yourself.

I understand that a whole gaggle of you so called science geniuses can’t believe in anything larger than your own ego. And, quite frankly, I don’t actually care that much about your soul (even though Jesus or, if you prefer, the Great Pumpkin in the sky might). I don’t personally want heaven to be that crowded anyhow. Can’t swing a cat without hittin’ an imbecile down here, I’d hate to think heaven is going to be full of them too. Just try to think about what is best for all of us for a year or so…humor me…or else I’ll send my prayer warriors after you. I’d do it, but I’m just not as smart as a Carnegie-“melon”.

Speaking of imbeciles…see how I so eloquently segued into this?…the next heavy hitting energy to grace us will be a square between Jupiter and Pluto on, of all days, Valentine’s. Don’t go overboard on a gift for someone you just met: Should be okay if you’ve been together for a while. If you think you might have contracted a union in which someone is obsessed with you…you probably have. Maybe they’ll show themselves now, which will give you a chance to get a restraining order.

Jupiter/Pluto energies when afflicted, such as this one, are a pretty good time to declare bankruptcy. Also a good time to completely curtail spending and get your %$#& together. If you are financially solvent, finding a huge bargain on a business or home is possible. A bit of humility might be in order for some folks who have not been able to succeed in their endeavors, but were arrogant enough to think they could. Oh, and the judgers are out en force. Guess what? Only reason any of us are breathing on this here sphere is because we are imperfect beings.

If you have a judger in your midst tell them that nobody cares about their moralistic infrastructure. Or, more to the point, tell them to get that log out of their eye and learn to ignore the speck in yours. Your speck ain’t any of their business anyway. I think the citizens of the USA will have gotten this message pretty clearly delivered to the government by February, since they have already started to do so way before this writing. Socialism isn’t anywhere in our forefather’s writings…perhaps the leaders should read a little more history instead of just trying to put their family photos in it. And this is a social worker talking…just conjecture what the rest of the population thinks.

I always worked for state or fed programs where the folks were taking money from the government and therefore were required to be harassed by quality assurance to make sure they were using it the way they should. Most of my jobs were variations on this theme. So just imagine how much they’ll want to dictate to us if we all get “free” health care from them. This concept is not working properly in Canada or the UK. If it were we wouldn’t be seeing so many come to our fair nation for help from the best of the best of the best…oh yeah…make sure and bring your first born and a credit card…our surgeons require it.

If your current doc already gives you a hard time about being fat, dysfunctional or addicted, guess how fun they’ll be when they have a government directive to be hateful and mean to their patients. Remember, they get off on blood already…the ghouls. My apologies to all the docs I like…emergency room docs, general practitioners, internists and anyone who isn’t in the biz for a buck.

Look, even the docs have to admit that delving into all manner of human oozings takes a different kind of tolerance and interest level. I’m not saying you shouldn’t get paid. I’m saying that healing should never have been put under the auspices of a money making proposition. Perhaps we needed the carrot to dangle in front of the donkeys for a while until discoveries were made, now, not so much. Put together a universal computer system and let the patient plug in their symptoms (no more being embarrassed to tell some uppity stranger you have flatulence) more honesty among patients will result. We will always need trauma docs and…gag…surgeons…but we don’t actually have to see them if you’ll drug us up properly. Win-Win for everyone since I know all surgeons have no actual interest in their patients as people, just as rotisserie.

March 28th brings a nasty energy, the opposition of Jupiter to Saturn. As if they ever agreed on anything anyway, and now this… Oppositions are just like they sound. Someone is raining on someone else’s parade. The good news is that the opposition might temper the exuberance of the buildup of Aries now. Perhaps the various dichotomous “authorities” will cross paths to stop some tragedy before it can become one. I think they are doing a pretty good job now…but the whole entrapment thing sort of reeks…but to hell with laws in times of war. Seriously. If they take the “bait” in the form of a bomb ridden vehicle, smack their ass. As long as we get to thump the lawmakers who overstep their bounds for no damn good reason except for their own jollies. Those who abuse authority do so because they have diminutive appendages.

In the general configuration taken for the center of North America, it looks like someone close to us, as in a good friend (think Great Brittan, Canada, Israel, Turkey, the Netherlands or some other ally) will have our back, or we theirs. That is if good is to come from this. If it is bad, then an open enemy (Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, North Korea and their ilk) will use a friend of ours to get to us.

In reading quotes from our past great presidents (I’m thinking Lincoln and Washington here) they both spoke about not being able to have close friends while they were leaders, mostly because friends cause you to have agendas or stab you in the back. Leadership is about doing the best you can for the most people, even if it isn’t part of your own personal wishes or negates some of your supporter’s plans. I pray our leaders talk to God and quit listening to the blathering of egos, including their own.

The opposition will also herald an opportunity to take on more responsibility…or perhaps have it thrust upon you as you run for your cave. Sorry…you won’t make it. They’ve got you. If you are an expert, well, the world needs experts. Just leave your self-glorifications back at the cave because if you get caught up in that, Saturn will thump you went he makes some other transit to Jupiter later.

The problems of the first 6 months of 2011 could lift for many in May when Jupiter sextiles Neptune on the 18th of that month. This is a wonderful auspice which is another variation of the “miracle energy” you’ve heard tell of on this site in the past. In all sincerity though, this energy isn’t as strong as it was when the airplane landed on the Hudson, but with a little more prayer and an even more exceptional level of skill, it might bring something just as wonderful. Dreams come true, so dream big and pray bigger. God loves to hear from us, especially when we pray for others.

End of June has a trine from Jupiter to Pluto. This is a direct link to that square between these two planets earlier in the year. Hopefully whatever was overdone and amiss in our lives can now be corrected and improved upon immediately. Pay attention to your instincts, I should also say that about the sextile between Jupiter and Neptune mentioned previously. The world is speeding up, and so is our ability to tap into the great beyond. Learn to listen more, investigate and research decisions for which you are unclear of the right path. Beware the primrose path of being too optimistic and effusive in your endeavors. If you can do this, wonderful options exist for you now. If you can stand your ground against the biggest naysayer in the universe (Pluto in Capricorn) then you can make it anywhere. For some reason I hear the theme song for the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” here. Yes, I am THAT old.

I have to say that it looks to me like the later part of the year is a bit better than the first six months. This is a generality of course, but I hope at least part of the year will be better than we have seen in a while, so I’m banking on the second half.

On December 6th we have a trine between Saturn and Neptune. Saturn is all about building foundations, being disciplined, paying your dues and doing things at the right time. Neptune is emotional, deep as the ocean and harbors the vestiges of our dreams. Dreams can come true with this energy if we have put the time and effort into building a solid underpinning for them.

I have not yet mentioned a conjunction which includes the asteroid Chiron, that we are being visited by this year. Neptune will conjunct Chiron early in January and it will be with us to varying degrees and strengths all year: Most profoundly at the beginning of 2011 and again at the end.

Chiron is an interesting energy. He was the teacher of the Greek gods, an excellent warrior but an even greater teacher after he was wounded with a wound which would never heal and pained him greatly. He was also the epitome of a rebel and an iconoclast. If you thought he would go left, he would go over. He has taken on the colors of Neptune for a time, which has to be difficult for him.

Neptune can be confused, delusional and deceptive. And he is the kind that will love you until he smothers you to death. The best options for these two energies have to do with health. Neptune rules health problems associated with the feet or some of the fungi and mold driven cooties out there. But Neptune also rules cancer…or any other disease that hides itself until it may be too late. Chiron the healer may give some hope to those who have suffered way too much already. Maybe a breakthrough will be forthcoming, or sadly, they might chose to sink into the oblivion of narcotics. Don’t judge them unless you’ve walked a mile in their moccasins either. Pain sucks.

I don’t know if you have read about that guy in Germany who was given a bone marrow transplant for leukemia and it appears to have cured his AIDs. I’d say that the Neptune/Chiron energy helped this come to pass as it is exact at the very beginning of January. And as we know the outer planets hitting any planet will sustain their energy for months before and after the actual exact date.

Saturn will test all possibilities so even if Neptune is a bit of a waffler, he can’t get past the stringent rules of Saturn. Therefore, any and all discoveries and musings will be investigated to the nth degree. This is a good thing for science, and a bad thing for humanity. Because sometimes when Saturn overdoes his scrutiny, the object of his obsession will decide that he is an anal shmuck and tell him to take a rocket ship to the moon with only methane for fuel and no gas masks allowed.

May you all have a wonderful and safe 2011. “God bless us every one”.

2010 Highlights

The first major energy I spotted (and I don’t use a bunch of obscure transit calculations…only the biggies) is an opposition between Saturn and Uranus. This is going to be haunting us to varying degrees until the tail end of July, due to Saturn doing the retro thing. This energy might be described as a time of social unrest and can be exemplified by what we have seen with the unrest in Greece with their youth. The youth (Uranus) are upset with the establishment (Saturn) because they believe the establishment is making up new rules which benefit them. Amazing how often that happens…that those in power decide to implement new rules and regs in order to secure their ideologies, motives and bottom line.

This will play out in all of our lives with restrictions going up and rebels getting more overt in calling out those in power for their past track record. Especially when said track record does not show that they have done what they purported to do. The important thing for the rebels to do is to remember that they can’t hurt others in their fight. Just turns them in to the kind of people they say they are against. This is a divisive energy pattern, to say the least. If you have kids…good luck keeping them in line. Especially if they are old enough to have decided they don’t agree with your motives and ideologies.

The next pattern is Jupiter quincunx Saturn, which occurs around the 22nd of March. People who thought they were in the midst of balancing power a while ago will conclude now that there is still a need for even more adjustments. Jupiter and Saturn are not really that great of friends anyway, and this energy is less than agreeable. The good thing about it is that if you have been wronged by someone, you could well see them take a dive. I like this energy okay because usually the one who is most judicious wins…as it should be. Those who employ harsh or militaristic methods will lose their credibility when you combine the two major energies I have discussed so far.

The end of May has an absolutely wonderful energy…a conjunction between Jupiter and Neptune (this will be with us all year as well to varying degrees due to retrogradation). I LOVE this energy…in the right hands. These two planets represent a big dose of pure faith. At least that is my hope. People believe in you…this is true love…the kind only seen in movies and amongst people willing to do the best they can for others, even at risk to themselves. Again, I adore this energy when it is used rightly. Watch for miracles. Honest…we should see a lot of them.

Taken in its lowest form though, it is really creepy. I don’t even want to dwell on the possibilities, but just know that some authority figures have some pretty nasty secrets they will do just about anything to hide. Look particularly to religious figures.

Saturn quincunx Neptune will occur around the 12th of September. Again, these energies are not going to get along that well due to the way they have met. In fact, Saturn will do whatever it can to rain on the parade of Neptune here…but Neptune has a direct line to God so big raspberry to Saturn on this one. In a positive light, Saturn will be giving someone’s dreams firm footing from which to operate. And even, miracle of miracles, some strictly Saturn types will turn over a new leaf and start actually believing in a higher power than themselves.

This will work both ways too. Some highly idealistic or religious types will become more grounded and able to give their dreams life all on their own without the help from more established types. Remember, Neptune is deceiving and we all must remember that sometimes what we see isn’t what we get…sometimes it is even better.

The most gnarly energy of the year, my opinion only, happens in November…a square between Saturn and Pluto. These two planets represent discipline and focus, respectively. You have to have both of these things to succeed in life. However, when mixed this way, you have a situation where too much force can be used and then people get hurt. Overlording will be rampant…liken this energy to Mugabe in Zimbabwe when presented in its worst form.

This energy pattern worries me because it is mirrored by the same type of energy due to Pluto being in Capricorn. Every astrologer out there has given their two cents about Pluto going into Cappy, so I won’t be redundant here; just know this isn’t a happy auspice. However, it can be amazingly transformative and it can and will bring about enough power to change said overlording…eventually. Saturn don’t work quick.
